Zooki - How to use vitamins and supplements to fuel your active lifestyle
Paace is all about motivating you to move more and lead a healthy lifestyle. Fuelling your body with essential vitamins and nutrients is a vital part of achieving your goals and feeling your best.
However, it can be difficult to know where to begin... That’s why we have teamed up with our friends at Zooki. We caught up with their Head Nutritionist Sarah Carolides to give us the inside scoop on the essential vitamins and supplements to help lead an active lifestyle.
Hi Sarah, can you tell us a bit about Zooki for those who are new to your brand and products?
Zooki was set up 7 years ago by 2 keen amateur sportsmen who realised there was a gap in the supplement market for really good quality nutrients with proven high absorption that were also enjoyable to take. Almost all of our supplements use our Advanced Liposomal Delivery Techniques, which means they take advantage of being wrapped in lipids to ensure the nutrients are protected from the stomach acid as they journey through the intestines. We also pioneered the great tasting & convenient liquid sachets for an easy daily dose. The range is growing steadily and we’ve just introduced our capsule range that are all liposomal.
Why are Zooki nutrients more beneficial than conventional tablets?
It’s the liposomal delivery system that makes Zooki supplements so much more beneficial than traditional tablets. Our Advanced Liposomal Delivery Technique means our nutrients are also 4x better absorbed into the blood stream than traditional supplements.
With our liquid supplements you may enjoy the experience more than the tablets as they all taste amazing. Also some people cannot take capsules, so having the liquid option is that much easier. Personally I mix a few of the liquids together for a ‘mocktail’ which I wouldn’t want to do with capsules. Also we can increase the dose in the liquid pouches - like our new super strength 11,000 mg collagen - which is the liquid equivalent of 11 capsules!
Which vitamins/supplements are key in aiding an active routine and optimal performance?
I would start with Vitamin C, Vitamin D and turmeric. Vitamins C and D are both necessary for energy production and also keeping the immune system resilient, which is important during the long winter months. Turmeric is showing more and more results in sports trials where it can aid performance because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
Which vitamins/supplements best support the body for recovery?
Here I would go for collagen, magnesium and either turmeric or ashwagandha. Collagen supports the body’s own natural production which is needed for muscle and connective tissue growth and repair.
Magnesium is the body’s main relaxation mineral - where calcium initiates muscle contraction; magnesium causes the muscles to relax, aiding recovery. The right magnesium can also help promote restful sleep and also aids cardiovascular health. Magnesium is also involved in other 400 body processes so it’s essential for both physical and mental recovery and health.
Finally both turmeric and ashwagandha have anti-inflammatory properties which support recovery. Ashwagandha is known as an adaptogen so it can help the body’s response to stressors such as physical exercise. Turmeric as I mentioned is being increasingly used by professional and amateur sportsmen to aid recovery and help build endurance.
So there you have it, sourcing the right vitamins for your body and routine needn't be a struggle. If you're searching for other vitamins and supplements you can head on over to the Zooki website and complete their personalised quiz.
